Didier Drogba injured in Ivory Coast's 2-0 win over Japan

Ivory Coast world cup hopes have taken a serious blow as they saw off Japan 2-0 in a pre-World Cup friendly on Friday. Captain Didier Drogba picked up a right arm injury which forced him to play only 17 minutes of the game.

The fashionable Chelsea striker picked up the injury after a seemingly innocuous clash with Brazilian-born Japanese defender Marcus Tulio Tanaka and gave way to CSKA Moscow forward Seydou Doumbia.

Drogba is one of the clean striker of the ball for Chelsea and was already contributing to Ivory Coast world cup hope when he helped open the scoring in favour of the Africans three minutes prior to his injury by taking a lethal free kick which was deflected in off Tanaka.

Doctors are already doing all they can including the scans to determine the extent of the injury. More on how bad the injury will be revealed in the next couple of days but Ivory Coast fans are already praying for the best.

Didier Drogba is an Icon who is going to make life difficult for any world cup defence and if he is not 100%, Ivory Coast chances are next to slim.
