http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Didier-Drogba-c11044 has revealed he will not let his past in the European competition affect the UEFA Champions League final against Bayern Munich.
The Blues have previously made it to the UEFA Champions League once in 2008, losing out to English Premier League rivals Manchester United in a penalty shoot-out. It has taken Chelsea four years to make it to the final again and they will do everything to win.
Drogba, who has a history with the European competition; making it a habit to get sent off, has revealed he was focused on helping his side win the Champions League. The Ivory Coast international believed the past did not matter.
Drogba said in an interview:
“It's not good to speak about the past because we have a great moment here. I could speak with you about Bayern Munich and the next Champions League final rather than speak about the other final.”
It was against Manchester United in Moscow that Drogba earned himself a red card and was sent off, after which he went to lose two finals of the Africa Cup of Nations. While the memories of the previous finals are not pleasant, Drogba will be hoping to make new memories this season.
He already scored in the FA Cup final against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809, which the Blues went on to win. According to Drogba, he had faced a lot of disappointments in his career but believed it was the time to turn things around with the Blues in the UEFA Champions League final.
He revealed:
“I've got a lot of disappointments but I've also got a lot of great moments in finals so I'm going to try to make sure that, for my team-mates, this one is a great one.
I've played a lot with Chelsea but this one is going to be special because it's only the second time we have reached the Champions League final.
So we are going to do everything to go there and be ready to play against this German team.”
Even though Drogba has not admitted it, there is a possibility that this could be his last game with Chelsea. With his contract set to expire in the summer, he could be heading to another club if an agreement is not reached with the Blues.
