Didier Drogba still going strong, refuses to talk about new contract at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Didier-Drogba-c11044, the Chelsea striker, revealed he was confident he would be able to play top level football for another year or two. Despite being 33 years old, the Ivory Coast international remains one of the best strikers in the English Premier League.
It was Drogba once again who inspired the Blues’ 3-0 victory over Valencia in the UEFA Champions League, ensuring a top finish for his side in the European competition. The former Marseille man scored twice, saving his side from crashing out of yet another
cup competition.
Drogba said while speaking to reporters:
“I started late at a high level. I was 25 when I started to play my first Champions League games.
I feel happy, I feel good on the pitch, I'm really enjoying myself, my football. When we're winning like this, I'm really delighted."
While he was delighted to play top level football with Chelsea, having joined the club all the way back in 2004, Drogba could very well be parting ways with the London club soon. He will be out of contract in the summer and is yet to agree on a new deal.
However, Drogba was not worried about a new contract, claiming he would just wait and see how things went before deciding on his future. At this point Drogba seems to be perfectly happy just going on the way he is. He revealed:
“My future, really, is not very important. When the time will come, we'll speak about it. But, at the moment, we don't need to.”
Drogba has a lot of competition at Stamford Bridge this season and admitted he was not to his best just as yet. According to him, the injuries and suspensions had held him back, but he was looking back to return to his former self with more play time.
Drogba added:
“I have lost a lot of goals, and I hope this is something that my fitness will help me to improve.”
The Chelsea hit-man admitted the thought of the humiliation of crashing out of the Champions League had been motivation enough for the Blues to secure a victory against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863. The Ivorian gave credit to his teammates for an incredible performance against
the La Liga side, he continued:
“We did the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 because it was impossible for the club not to be in the Champions League. The players are responsible for that. There was pressure but I think it was good pressure.”
