  1. - I think it is a mistake to think that any country is capable of responding to every disaster. China's earthquake is in a very remote section of the country. The logistics problems must be incredible.

    - The media attention to China's growing urban economy and competition for resources on the world stage sometimes overshadows that China has a huge population that does not even have the fundamentals of safe living. As many as 300 million people do not even have access to safe drinking water.

    - The Mexican army was very proud to come and assist the United States after Hurricane Katrina.
