Didn't Pawlenty already say he doesn't want to be VP?

So why is he supposedly on the top of the list when he doesn't want the job and is up there with Romney when Romney and McCain hate each other?

  1. At the Minnesota State Fair this week, his official stance is that John McCain hasn't talked to him about it.

He is on the short list but I doubt he'll get the nod.  No polls that I know of show that McCain will take Minnesota with Pawlenty on the ticket.  Favorite Son status in a swing state is usually the most important factor in the VP selection.

  2. Biden said he was running for President, not Vice President, and wouldn't take the job if offered...SEE?

BTW..Johnson Hated Kennedy and vice-a-versa, as well as Reagan and Bush 41, butt they all worked together!!

  3. Everyone says they don't want it until the VP is announced. Pride issues. Biden and Obama weren't exactly friendly during the primaries either, so Romney is certainly not off the table.

  4. You may be shocked if its Hillary!!!

  5. I never heard Pawlenty say he didn't want to be VP, just that he had a lot to do yet in MN.  When he was running for the Dem nomination for Pres, Biden did say that he didn't want to be VP.

I don't think it really matters what they have said in the past.  Besides, its the media talking heads who are talking about the Dem & Rep short lists, not the Pres candidates themselves.
