Question:

Didn't send thank-you notes. Can I fix this?

It's 8 months past my daughter's bat-mitzvah and we sent virtually no thankyou notes. It's entirely my fault and I feel terrible. Do I forget about it? Have her write the notes just as she would have at the appropriate time? Have her write them and then add my own apology at the bottom? Advice appreciated.

  1. Yes, it's never too late to say thank you.  Just send a card that says something like "I'm so sorry my token of appreciation was late but your gifts/presence were/was a blessing!  Thank you so much."

Don't dwell too much on being late.  Make a quick apology and concentrate on the THANK YOU!

    Good luck.

  2. Write them now!

  3. Yes, send them out! But it isn't your fault, it is your daughter's. I don't know why you are taking the blame. SHE should add an apology to it for being late, not you.

  4. Congratulations on your daughter's bat-mitzvah.

This is a case of better late than never.  I think it would be great for her to send thank you notes now, with your apology on the bottom.  What's done is done.  It's graceful and proper to let people know that you are sorry for the lapse and that you and your daughter are thankful for their gifts or participation in your daughter's bat-mitzvah celebration.  You will also be setting a good example for your daughter.

  5. Never too late.  Just send them as is, not mentioning how late they are.  Better late than never.

  6. Better late than never.

  7. It is never too late to send thank you cards.  I actually sent some out a year late one time.  I just added an apology for the length of time and let them know that the gift was very important.

  8. I think your solution of having her write them and then adding your own apology is a great one!

    Better late than never!

  9. If you write them now - and add a note to the bottom - that would be very sincere.  I certainly would appreciate getting such a note.
