How does one kill the ego, completely .

I don't mean through meditation either , cos the effects don't last .

Knowledge of theTruth alone can kill the ego. Search for the Truth is the only way.

Our egos love to be given this kind of attention.  Whatever is keeping us from the present moment is of the ego.  Ego cannot function in the now.  Don't worry about it except to remind yourself to become present in the moment - ego will look after ego.

It is difficult to master. You must view every single person as a reflection of you, on a soul level. Do not see them in physical form but only as a soul, that is an extension of you. Everything you do and think in life affects everyone so be careful what you do and think. Do not have any thoughts propelled toward yourself but only others. Human beings are nothing but just toys of the spirits of the world created by God.  God created everything that human beings need.  People accepting this truth see only one side and fails to see the another side. People see what God had created for human physique.  They don't see what God had created for their souls.  They are spirits.  God made the human beings to live in their own will.  If they need good they get the contact of good spirits but if they need bad they get the contact of bad spirits.  Why it is like that?  Because God had created human beings only in this way.  The relation ship between man and God is like the relation ship between a robot and a scientist.  The difference is, God let the human beings to live in the way they like.  Lion hunts and eats deer.  This is an interesting scene for human beings and God too. The deers have their own lives.  They have kindness and love.  They fight to save their youngs from their enemies.  Yet their love, kindness and sacrifice are not valued.  In the same way human beings' love, kindness and even sacrifice need not be valued.  Whether sacrifice or any good thing; you like you do it.  Everything become incidents of no value except that they are watchable like people watch the lions hunting the deers.  If you go on thinking like this what is your ego?  Just try to think again and again what I have written above.

ego is a social product, since you are a child they teach that you are separated from the rest of nature, you have a name, you say I, things belong to you don't belong to others. as Buddha noticed, all pain come from ego. I don't know if it possible to raise children without ego, or let's say, with an operational ego to manage day to day tasks. Sophism, Lao zi, zen, and Japanese haiku helped me a lot. zen is most wise: you can never reach nirvana once and for all, it's a continuous process all of your life. reaching nirvana is killing ego, killing Buddha.

I dont know if the ego can ever be killed or die even...I believe that complete awareness of the ego is what aids in it's being dormant.

Im at but a novice though...so I'll leave at that.

Edit: I'm sorry I didnt see the last part of your question...I believe that our "forgetfullness" is what gave rise to the ego...I believe that it is our root cause...again, Im a novice at best...Peace!

To kill the ego would be to kill human nature.  The minute you find someone without an ego, you have found someone that isn't human.  This is why I enjoy being around animals.  I have yet to find one with an ego.

for that you have to kill the " I, ME MYSELF"

think in terms of others.

instead of thinking , 'i want' you have to think what others want and give willingly, completely. become selfless not selfish.
