Diego Brandao wins by submission over Dennis Bermudez in TUF 14 Finale – TUF Recap
The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 14 Finale was held on December 3, 2011 in Las Vegas. The event, produced by the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), featured a featherweight bout between Brazilian mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Diego
Brandao and American MMA fighter Dennis Bermudez. Brandao won the bout with his armbar submission move.
Brandao and Bermudez's bout was an equally balanced one as both fighters were on the offensive from the start of the bout.  Both the featherweight fighters were looking for a win to get their careers move further ahead. For Brandao,
he had a three fight winning streak which he was looking to extend. On the other hand, Bermudez was desperately looking for a win for he had lost the last two fights in succession.
The moment the bell for the first round was heard, both the fighters were on the offensive. They were not showing any signs of backing down nor did they try to make any sudden movements. The reason behind this technique was to
keep the other fighter guessing on the moves they wanted to make. Bermudez went for a takedown but could not get his feet and weight at the right place.
Brandao acted swiftly and countered the takedown with one of his own. Once the takedown maneuver was not successful, Bermudez applied his headlock. The move was effective for only a while but Bermudez could not gain any sustainable
advantage through the headlock. Brandao soon retaliated with his body shots which came with force but his target was out of focus. Brandao was only throwing his punches in an attempt to create some damage, but Brandao’s efforts were not giving him any results.

24-year-old Brandao kept his attack going. He went for a overhand punch but Bermudez moved at the last moment. Brandao was looking to carry out another attack but he slipped and lost his balance. Bermudez capitalized on the opportunity
and threw a strong flying kick, which was placed with immense force. Brandao replied back with strikes of his own which shocked Bermudez but Brandao was slow in making any other move. The fight was still in the first round as the fighters were looking for
an opening and a weak point. They kept on striking with their punches and knee shots but both fighters kept standing.
Brandao saw a small opening and threw a punch which hit on Bermudez’s jaw, rattling him a few paces back. Brandao was successful in taking down his opponent but Bermudez quickly got up on his feet. As the first round was coming
to a close, the fighters were looking for a submission move. Brandao was able to punch hard that took Bermudez down on the mat. This was the opening Brandao was looking for as he applied the armbar submission move. Bermudez had no choice but to tap out. Brandao
was the winner of the bout in the first round with ten minutes remaining.
