Diego Forlan issues come and get me plea
Atletico Madrid striker Diego Forlan has issued a come and get me plea to any Premier League team that wants to sign him.
Forlan was considered a flop after his time with Manchester United. However, he has turned his reputation around through scoring goals regularly in La Liga and for Uruguay at international level.
Forlan admits that if that right move comes along from a Premier League team then he would almost certainly take up the chance to move back and play in England.
Forlan's game had developed massively and he now has a set of skills that would make him an asset to any Premier League team. However, there is a good case for Forlan to stay in Spain as La Liga is arguably
a better league.
Set of skills
Forlan now possesses a set of skills that is far greater than he had at the point of leaving Manchester United. His finishing is superb and this was showcased through brilliant goals that he scored for
Uruguay during the World Cup.
Forlan has developed his game and he is now a very versatile striker. He can play up front by himself or he can play off of another striker and drop into the midfield.
He is lethal from set pieces and this is something he did not show during his time at United. He has scored a lot of goals for Atletico Madrid through taking free kicks and penalties.
"If I have the chance to go, I will go. You know, it's like I always say, when I came here to Europe it's because
I left my home and I left everybody so I'm not attached to a team. You look at the best offer you have and if you have a chance and it is good and it is good for the
team and it is good for you, I don't see it as bad, I see it is good and I will move," he said.
Why move?
Some will question the point of Forlan moving from a club and league where he is one of the best players. Spanish football is widely hailed as the best in the world at
the moment.
Atletico Madrid is not a bad club and the team's success in the Europa League last season showed that there are more than two club sides in Spain capable of winning silverware.
A move away from Spain could also risk the security that Forlan has worked so hard to build up. He is the number one striker at Atletico Madrid and this may not be the
case if he moves back to another club in England.
"The papers say things but at the moment I am here, I have a contract
with the club and there's nothing else to say. Everybody says things, that maybe you do or don't want to go back.
The time I had in England was great and I enjoyed it and if I had the chance to go back I would be really happy," he added.
Betting advice
Forlan will score goals regardless of the club he's at. He has turned his game around and is now one of the best strikers in Europe. Back him to score at any time in any
match in La Liga.
Don't be scared to have a punt on him scoring the most goals in the Spanish league. There is a good chance he will stay in Spain and he has already won the golden boot
in La Liga for his exploits during the 2008/09 season.
