Diego Maradona keen on English Premier League job
Argentina legend Diego Maradona says that he is not ready to give up on being a manager and is targeting a move to the English Premier League to continue his coaching career.
The 49-year-old was deposed as Argentina coach after he led his country’s national team to the quarter-finals of the 2010 FIFA World Cup where they were thumped 4-0 by Germany.
However, the man who won the tournament as a player has revealed that he would relish the opportunity to manage in England’s top flight.
Maradona told Sky Sports News that he believed he was unfairly pushed out of the Argentina set-up and that he missed coaching players such as FIFA World Player of the Year Lionel Messi and Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez. He also revealed that he would
take on any big job which was offered to him.
'I will return to Argentina national team one day'
He said that: "If any important job comes along I will accept it, but I know I will go back to the national team one day, that is my fate. I'm waiting.
"Yes of course I would like to [manage a Premier League team], I would really love it. It has great teams at an exceptional level with great players. I was looking at Arsenal and Chelsea and I've talked to Kevin Keegan. Everything is so professional. The players
are surrounded by everything they need – the players, the managers, the coaches, everything is phenomenal.
"I want to be very clear that I didn't offer myself for anything, nor did anyone offer me anything. This is a media game. It really bothered me when the Mexicans were linked with me, and Aston Villa were linked with me. I never spoke to any of them. I don't
know why they needed to come out and talk about it."
