Legendary Diego Maradona believes AC Milan should go for the troubled Manchester star if they are to retain Serie A crown...
Al Wasl manager, Diego Maradona, has urged AC Milan to grab hold of Carlos Tevez in order to further strengthen their squad and boost their chances of retaining the Serie A crown. He rated Tevez as one of the top players around and considered him ‘unfortunate’
to have run out of favour in England.
Maradona was talking in the wake of reports that linked Tevez with the reigning Italian champions. It is believed that the Argentinean striker is all set to tie knots with AC Milan possibly during the upcoming January transfer window.
Tevez had an outstanding 2010/11 season with Manchester City but the arrivals of Sergio Aguero and Mario Balotelli demoted the 27-year-old to the bench.
The Argentine international has made just two league appearances this season, compared to the 28 he made during the last campaign. Consequently, he was involved in a spat with manager Roberto Mancini and had to pay for it with a hefty fine and an eight-match
ban.
Since then, the striker hasn’t graced the pitch for the club, his future all but over in Manchester.
The Italian champions, on the other hand, took advantage of the situation and proposed a bid for the former Manchester United man. While the Citizens want to offload the trouble maker, Mancini has clearly stated that the player will only be sold permanently
and not on a loan deal.
Al Wasl tactician reckoned that Tevez could be a huge hit in Italy and a player of his calibre should automatically get a place in the starting XI. He expressed delight at Milan’s offer for the striker and hoped that the City officials won’t stop the player
from tying knots with Rossoneri.
The legendary Argentinean concluded his remarks by further adding:
"I hope that it's true, that it goes ahead. I really hope this transfer takes place. I wish Carlos Tevez all the best. He should be back playing football.”
"What has happened to him at Manchester City is unfortunate. If Milan actually sign him, they'll be big winners. He's an amazing footballer. He was one of the best performers when he played at Manchester United and for Manchester City. I hope he will be
back on the pitch and playing football in Milan."
