The Valdobbiadene-born Italian striker is in awe of the former Real Zaragoza striker; looking to learn a great deal from the experienced striker in the next season.
Longo has come through the Internazionale primavera team, and after the appointment of the former Nerazzurri Primavera team head coach; he has been given an opportunity to make his mark in the team by Andrea Stramaccioni.
The striker has spent time with a couple of clubs with stints at Piacenza and Genoa over the past two year. Genoa bought 50 per cent of the player’s rights after his stint at the club in 2011. This was the same season that the
Grifone bought Mattia Destro from the Nerazzurri outfit for a fee of 4.5 million Euros.
Samuele Longo was instrumental in the NextGen Series victory of the San Siro outfit, and he scored 5 goals during the tournament. Stramaccioni tweaked with the role of the youngster and the striker scored a hat-trick in the NextGen
Series semi-final victory against bitter rivals, AC Milan.
Stramaccioni saw the talent in Longo and pursued the club to snap up the youngster for a greater length of time.
Longo is star struck and states his enthusiasm in learning from all the great players at the club. He held Diego Milito in high regard, remarking:
"I'm trying to pick up as many tips as possible from my team-mates. I've been impressed by Milito obviously, with what he's done and the goals he's scored in these first few days: every shot is a goal."
The 20-year-old striker was talking to the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Channel and confessed that he has been relishing the opportunity to break into the first team of Internazionale. However, he remained pragmatic and stated that he would assess his
options at the end of season, and stated:
"I'm here now and trying to make the most of this chance I've been given. I'm proud to be a part of this group and I'll give everything I've got to try and work my way into the team. If it doesn't happen then we'll see.”
The Azzurrini striker is hopeful that he can break into the first team, however, the presence of his idol, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Diego-Milito-c11166 will turn out to be a big hurdle to cross.
