Diego Milito to miss Champions League clash
Argentinian striker Diego Milito will be forced to miss out on Inter Milan's Champions League battle with Werder Bremen.
It has been revealed that Milito has been suffering from a thigh strain and will be replaced in the lineup by Cameroonian striker Samuel Eto'o, who will play next to Macedonian striker Goran Pandev.
It had seemed that Milito was recovering well from his injury, but head coach Rafa Benitez has decided to take no chances. To avoid further injury, he has decided that total rest is the best option for his striker, and will be keeping Milito completely out
of the lineup.
Inter Milan play host to German side Werder Bremen at the San Siro stadium in Milan, and will be looking to improve their position in group A where all teams are tied, making Wednesday's match-up pivotal for both sides.
Diego Milito was voted last season's Champions League best player, scoring both goals in the final and leading his side to a 2-0 victory over Bayern Munich. Milito was Inter's top striker in the tournament last season, scoring six goals and leading Inter
to their third Champions League title. Inter will miss his presence up front, as well as his knack for scoring big goals in crucial games.
Bremen has also suffered their share of injuries leading up to the match, and they will be hoping that the loss of Milito levels the playing field a little, especially since the German side will be hoping to steal a point away to the titleholders.
Inter Milan drew their first match away to Dutch side Twente Enschede on match day one. Milito scored one goal in that match, but unfortunately for him it was on his own goal. Milito stands with two goals so far this season in Serie A.
