Diego Nunes defeats Manvel Gamburyan by a unanimous decision at -UFC 141
Las Vegas, Nevada, hoste the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) 141, one of the most anticipated UFC events, on 30th December, 2011. The featherweight bout of the event on the preliminary card was contested between Brazilian
mixed martial art (MMA) fighter, Diego Nunes and Armenian MMA fighter, Manvel Gamburyan. It was one of the first fights of the night which provided sheer entertainment to the local crowd, as Nunes won the bout through a unanimous decision of 29-28, 29-28,
29-28.

 

Both fighters kept circling inside the fighting cage of  while at the beginning of the first tround, buyintg their time to wait for the right moment to launch their attack. Within the opening few minutes, Nunes delivered the first strike to get the upper hand
in the fight. His opponent, Gamburyan, failed to to block himself from the incoming punches and swiftly went for the takedown but the cautous Nunes was agile enough to avoid his clutches.

 

Both fighters were looking for an opportunity to get an edge but neither one of them could find one. Nunes finally got hold of Gamburyan’s head and went for the submission move, the guillotine choke but Gamburyan was too good for him to be taken that easily
and escaped his move with ease. Gamburyan countered Nunes’ attack as he pinned him to the cage, slamming his body with force. Nunes was now on the offensive as he threw a straight kick which connected with Gamburyan’s body, making a deep impact as he was thrown
back with force. Neither of the two fighters could get a knockout strike in the first round.

 

With the second round in play, the fighters looked focused on each other’s weak points. Gamburyan came up with his offensive technique of narrowing down the distance between him and Nunes right from the beginning of the second round of the competition. This
was something Nunes did not expect after the few blows he gave to Gamburyan in the first round. Gamburyan's aggressive strategy worked for him, as he gave a strong over hand chop to Nunes but he was able to stay on his feet and moved some paces away from him.
Gamburyan was again fast enough to go for a takedown but Nunes countered it with ease and threw one of his kicks at him. The frequent onslaught  by Nunes left his opponent breathless. The second round also ended with both fighters standing tall.

 

As the third and final round began, the two fighters became desperate for victory and both of them needed a blow to put down their opponent. The two fighters became desperate as they started throwing their kicks and punches but neither of them could manage
to get a knockout as it was an evenly matched fight. The third round also came to end with the judges giving the decision in favor of Nunes as he won the fight 29-28, 29-28, 29-28.
