Chilean legend Ivan Zamorano has lavished praise on his fellow countryman and godson, Diego Rubio, by saying that he always knew that the attacking midfielder would grow up to be a footballing star.
An icon not only in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chile-c2871 but renowned all over the world, Zamorano has been one of the finest players to have graced the La Roja jersey. He also played for a host of major clubs in Europe and with the experience the former striker has garnered he can easily
identify quality players. Amongst those who he has touted for future fame and success is none other than his godson, Diego Rubio.
"I've known him forever and I can say that Diego was born to be a star.” Zamorano beamed.
The former Real Madrid player also mentioned that despite being very young, Rubio is plying his trade in Europe with one of the biggest clubs and has all the right surroundings to fulfil his undoubted potential.
“I do not find it hardly surprising. He is very young and is living in Europe, where he is having an adventure and has all the conditions needed to succeed,” said the 44-year-old.
18-year-old Rubio not only possess immense talent but it can be said that football runs in his family. While his godfather is definitely the most famous footballer amongst his relatives, the former Colo Colo man’s father also played the game professionally
alongside his brothers.
While none of his immediate family member played in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Portugal-c2984, Rubio broke the family tradition and transferred to Sporting Lisbon. At Jose Alvalade, he put pen to paper on a five-year contract and was considered to be a bargain buy, as his acquisition only
set the Lions back by a meagre €1 million.
Although he was relatively successful in Chilean league and commanded a place in the starting eleven at Los Albos, he was overlooked by the national team selectors. Since the turn of the year, however, he has managed to gain a solitary cap and at the age
of 18.
With the class he has shown in the highest division in Chile, Rubio can be a potential star for his new Portuguese employers
