Diego Sebastian Schwartzman dismantles David Guez in first round – Todi Challenger 2011
Diego Sebastian Schwartzman pulled off his first round win at the 2011 Todi Challenger against Frenchman, David Guez. Playing on clay, the two battled out for one hour and 32 minutes before Sebastian walked away with a straight
set win 6-2, 6-2.
Playing their first match against each other, both players have been struggling in their prior matches. Guez, ranked world No.165 was ruled out of the US Open after he was defeated in the 2nd qualifier and landed in
the Todi Challenger. The right hander is seeded no.8 in the challenger and did not prove worthy of his ranking as he was knocked down by the argentine effortlessly.
On the other hand, a young 19-year-old Argentine, Sebastian, started off his professional career in 2010. Considered as one of the most prolific rising tennis star in Argentina, Sebastian has 39- 18 win loss ratio in this season.
Ranked world No.349, Sebastian gunned down the Frenchman in the opening round of the Todi challenger and took road to the next.
Moving on with the match, Guez opened up with serving first for the opening set of the match. Striking early in the game, the 19-year-old broke the Frenchman in his match opening serve, however, fell short on his serve and gave
away a breakpoint on his serve to level the scores at 1-1. Guez then followed to extend his lead to 2-1 followed by Sebastian levelling once again, 2-2.
Continuing with serving game, the sensational 19-year-old mustered the next 4 games including 2 breakpoints and winning the set 6-2.
Guez then served the starting game of the 2nd set and once again fell short and lost a breakpoint. The 19-year-old extended his lead further winning on his serve and switched the serve. Pulling off a game saving a breakpoint,
Guez finally rolled down his part of the scorecard, 1-2.  With a remarkable comeback, the Frenchman broke and levelled the scores to 2-2 and stood to serve again.
The 19-year-old repeated a similar beating in second set as he fired up breaking the Frenchman in game 5 and taking the lead to 3-2. With back-to-back 3 games win including another breakpoint, the 19-year-old mustered the second
set as well winning with the same score, 6-2 and taking away the match winning 6-2, 6-2 and into the next round.
Praising the young Argentine for his superb play, Guez back patted Sebastian and ask him to lead the court as they left in respect. Winning the first round the 19-year-old sits in his seat comfortably as he waits for his next round
challenger.
