Wolfsburg attacker midfielder Diego is hoping to land a fresh contract from the Bundesliga outfit. He expects them to offer him a new deal provided that the campaign bears fruition. The attacker also honoured the recently appointed
sporting director by dedicating the weekend win to him.
The playmaker’s current contract runs out in June 2014 and he has expressed his desire to extend his deal beyond two years time. He remains committed to his side and is willing to offer his services to the club for the foreseeable
future. Diego was speculated to go back to Spanish outfit Atletico Madrid where he spent last term on loan.
However, he returned to the Volkswagen Arena in the summer to help the club improve their position in the league. The creative midfielder claimed that he is eyeing a contract extension, but he insisted that Die Wolfe should make
sure that they do well this term.
The Brazilian believes that if they achieve success this season, that will give them confidence for future as well and they will improve as a team.
"Yes, I am working towards it [the contract extension];” the 2009 DFB-Pokal champion was quoted as saying in an interview.
