Diesel Malc exited a victory in the New Year 545m Open Race

Diesel Malc lived up to his reputation by winning the 545 meters Greyhound Open Race at Mildenhall, on January 8, 2012.  He managed to win a cash prize of £150 with his brisk run.
The M H Fawsitt trained dog had to work hard for his victory, as he was just 0.01 seconds ahead of the second placed hound.
Diesel Malc covered the race distance in 33.95 seconds, after breaking from trap number two. He had a starting price of 8 to 13, and was the favourite to win. Despite a tough competition, he did not disappoint his trainer.
The winning hound is the son of Ballymac Maeve out of Crazy Jane, and was born in August, 2008.
S P Deal’s trained b***h, Melford Blue, ended up in second place. She had a very good run, but just fell short by a very little margin in the end, covering the race distance in 33.96 seconds.
Melford Blue, who jumped in from trap number three, with a starting price of 7 to 2, is the daughter of Phoenix Paddy out of Lear Fimble, and was born in June, 2008.
The top two hounds clocked a time under 34 seconds, whereas the rest of the pack finished above that bracket.
Clonoulty Hondo finished a distant third, covering the total distance in 34.37 seconds. He had a starting price of 3 to 1, and broke into the race from trap number four.
The R B York trained hound was born in January, 2009, and is the son of Hondo Black out of Borna Lace.
The fourth place was taken by the b***h named, Queen of Rangers, who clocked a time of 34.38 seconds, just 0.01 seconds adrift of, Clonoulty Hondo. She went into the race from trap number one, and had a starting price of 5 to 1.
Queen of Rangers is the daughter of Droopys Scolari out of Farloe Oyster, and was born in August, 2009. She was trained by P H Harnden, who would not have been happy after the outcome of the race.
The hound that finished last was Night Orbit, who covered the race distance in 34.52 seconds, after breaking from trap number five. He was the least favourite to win the race, with the starting price of 10 to 1.
Night Orbit is the son of Brett Lee out of Pats Flight, and was trained by B P Cooper. He was born in February, 2009.
