Diesel Malc stands first in the Winter 545 at Mildenhall on Jan 22
Diesel Malc, trained by M H Fawsitt, did not let his fans down, and won the 545 metre long Grade Open Race (OR) Heat, hosted by Mildenhall on Sunday, January 22, 2012.
The brindle dog, the son of Ballymac Maeve out of Crazy Jane, justified his status as the favourite hound, with the odds of 4 to 5.
After starting his run from the second stall, the dog took a reasonable lead that he sustained till the post. By clocking the distance in 34.55 seconds, he collected a lot of praise alongside a cash prize of £150.
Finishing 1 ¼ lengths behind the victor, Smooth Nation, appeared as the runner-up. The black dog was carrying the winning chance of 9 to 4, breaking in from the fifth stand.
It was a clear run by the son of Droopys Maldini out of Supreme Hestia. He reached the finishing point in 34.65 seconds.
Goosetree Flash also showed a clear run, but could not surpass the runner-up. She remained three lengths behind Smooth Nation, covering the area in 34.90 seconds.
The black b***h, Goosetree Billy’s daughter out of Rutland Lilly, was the least favourite hound in the competition, holding the winning probability of 14 to 1. However, she would have delighted her fans by ending up among the top-3.
The fourth place was secured by Smooth Ace, completing his run in 34.93 seconds. It was a slightly disappointed finish for the blue dog, as he lost third position by a neck’s margin.
With the starting price of 5 to 1, Ace Hi Rumble’s son out of Pony Plan started off his run from the trap number one.
The fifth and sixth position respectively went to Parkers Man, and Mays Rocknroller – the two hounds with 10 to 1 betting odds, each. The son of Shelbourne Aston out of Lyrical Girl concluded his run in 34.99 seconds, finishing fifth on the chart.
The back marker, trained by P. Goodfellow, wrapped up the event in 35.21 seconds, finishing 2 ¾ lengths adrift of Parkers Man.
Diesel Malc has been doing a marvellous job this year. It was his second triumph in three heats he has run so far in 2012.
