A human would have to drink about a 12-pack of Diet Coke a day to consume enough aspertame to cause cancer.  One or two a day won't hurt you.  Sure, the aspertame caused cancer in lab mice, but their little bodies can handle a lot less of it than we can.  Besides, not to be judgy, but doesn't someone who drinks a 12-pack of soda a day sort of deserve a health problem?

Aspartame, which is found in Diet Coke, and many other artificially sweetened products turns into formaldehyde.  Formaldehyde is a chemical better known for preserving organs, and body parts after surgery, however, exposure COULD cause cancer.  This small amount of formaldehyde is processed by the body.  If over time, you consume a large amount, studies are unclear as to whether the risk is large enough to worry about.  However, in rats, there is a link when given HUGE doses over a period of time.

You must think to yourself....what is a worse risk...sugar overload leading to diabetes or obesity.  Or cancer years and years and years from now.  Personally I think the risk for consuming the diet drinks outweigh the other alternative diseases you could get.
