  1. I prefer diet coke - not because it contains less sugar but i really like the taste. Maybe its because it contains less sugar but it tastes "lighter" if that makes sense

  2. Diet Coke would be my choice too.  I am a Diet Pepsi gal, but would rather have Diet Coke than Regular Coke.

  3. sorry but i can always taste the difference... always. it leaves a horrible taste in my mouth maybe you just cant tell i kno some people dont notice the differece after drinking diet for ahwile

  4. Sorry to contradict you, but diet coke has a terrible bitter aftertaste which normal coke doesn't.  I don't like to consume an excessive amount of sugar either and that's what I stick to coke Zero, not weird aftertastes.

  5. diet or coke zero both might not have sugar but they do have a fake sugar like splenda and that is way worse for you

so u think its better but regular coke is still the best choice

  6. I don't know. I'm with you, I drink diet coke too! Woohoo!

  7. i odnt think they taste the same. i have never been able to stand the taste of reg coke. i have to drink diet or i will gag from the taste

  8. There is a lot of controversy over which one is better health-wise.  You would assume diet cola, because it doesn't have calories is better.  And that does make sense, because calories lead to weight gain and the U.S. / a lot of the Western world, has a weight problem.

However, the sweet taste of diet cola, which is filled with what is basically fake sugar, comes with some other problems.

    1.  It is not a real food, it is chemicals.  It is argued that people and cultures who eat real foods, not processed foods, are healthier.  (And a long with these thoughts, some scientists have linked some fake sugars to cancer and other diseases although others argue that it only triggers cancer at unrealistically high dosages)

    2.  Even though it is not real sugar, your body still treats it like sugar in some ways.  It is not processed as calories as mentioned before but it DOES trigger an insulin response.  So, in overly simplified terms, fake sugar wears out your pancreas just like real sugar does.  (The important part here is that this is NOT good for the fight against diabetes)

    3.  Again, it is not real sugar, but it is training your palate to crave sugar-tastes ... which leads a lot of people to still over - eat sugar from other sources other than the soda.  (The important part here is that many argue that for this reason specifically, fake sugars are not useful in the fight against weight gain.)

My solution?  Answer: I just don't drink much of either type of soda.  Maybe 1 can a month on average (?)  And if I am going to have soda, I don't really worry too much about which type it is.  I think the difference between them is ultimately pretty negligible.  Sometimes I drink diet because it does taste lighter and less abrasive to me.  Sometimes I drink regular if that is what is offered or what I am in the mood for.

So based on all of this, to come full circle and really answer your question, I think which one people pick is dependent on their views on health issues, what they know about the arguments between different sugars (fake and real), and their own personal taste.  Hope that helps!  :)
