Question:

Diet help (again). Has something to do with parents?

My parents say that I undereat (I don't), but I always count calories and feel guilty and worry that I want to lose weight. If I go to a resturant and I get no rice, chicken instead of steak, and some veggies, my mom glares at me. I want to cut out a lot of calories in my diet, say to 1,200, but my mom (if she found out) would throw a fit and say that I need to go to a doctor... I'm glad she doesn't know what I was doing before; fasting through lunch and consuming up to only 800 calories a day. Can you tell me if this is a healthy day? Food wise?:

Breakfast:

Hard boiled egg (no salt)

Toast (white bread)

Apple

Lunch:

Salad (no dressing)

Fruit/veggies

Dinner:

A lean cusine meal (about 300-400 calories)

So that's like 700 calories... I'm trying to lose weight and I am obsessing over it. I am currently 105 and 5'2" and a teen. So it's all good, right?

And if you are about to start your period, do you get hunger cravings?

  1. NO! Eat more.. if you consume less than 1200 calories, your body goes into starvation mode and you don't lose as much weight. It's like anorexia. It's good that you're concerned with your health, but you're going about it the wrong way. Try to have 6 small meals to keep your metabolism running throughout the day. You should have 5-6 fruits/veggies a day. And instead of white try wheat bread. Add more to your diet and then exercise 30-60 minutes a day of cardio. You'll lose the weight in no time!

    And yes, period=hunger. :)

    Hope I helped!

  2. You're weight is fine and it will fluctuate as your monthly cycle comes and goes. You should be sure to take a good multi-vitamin - do yourself a favor too.

You choose your ideal weight within 10-15 pounds of what they say it should be - only YOU have to like your body. Don't try to be one of the swim suit models and be all bummed out if you're not.

You need to like yourself before anyone else can...

all food turns to sugar to be burned - the excess turns to fat. Surf the internet and check out a few of the calorie counters to find out what your ideal calorie intake is and go with it. But remember don't sacrifice your health for what others or you think is your looks - your body is changing and growing until some time into your early 20's, don't deprive it of what it needs to grow.

Be happy being you - your weight is fine... maybe you just need to tone it up - muscle weighs more than fat -but the calorie intake could be low - depending upon your activity level.  A typical teen who isn't a certified couch potato can burn up 2000+ calories...just being themselves.

The eating habits you develop now will stay with you .....so eat healthy. If you are really so concerned - see a dietitian.

  3. your breakfast seems good, apple has cards so thats good, maybe a protein smoothie to go with that as well, that will give you more energy throughout the day. and you can stop in any little mini mart and pick up some protein powder without your mom really noticing, it sold almost everywhere.

you should probably put a lean protein in wiht your salad for lunch, boiled chicken, whatever

the lean cuisine dinner sounds like a good idea for dinner. i also recommend a lot of white fish with your lunch or dinner, it fills you up and is sooo healthy for you.

salmon is also great, stay away from tuna too though because of the mercury levels, however baby tuna is okay (and not canned tuna, frah, but i bet you already know that)

try some sushi with whole wheat rice sometimes too just so yuou dont get bored with your diet and quit, a low sodium sea weed salad may be interesting as well

try to eat over 1000 calories a day and maybe jog for a few min or bike, that will burn some cals right there.

you sound fine for you age and weight and good luck with your diet, if you stick wihtb the diest you explained above and maybe stuck some more food in there too you will do fine and your mother shouldnt worry too much

    good luck<33
