Question:

Diet "Jello" without animal products?

*Sigh* I'm trying to lose some weight and have managed to lose 5% of my body weight so far. One of my "friends" has been sugar-free jello (10 cals!)... the problem is, I'm a vegetarian for humane reasons and I feel badly that animal products are used to make jello. There is a non-animal product like jello but it's not sugar-free/diet. Any one know where I could find or how I could make sugar-free/diet "jello" without animal products? Thanks a bunch.

  1. sorry but you can't do a diet without animal products. If you do you can be ill.

  2. They actually do carry a vegan gelatin, it's called agar agar and you can make "jello" with it.  Here is a a recipe.

That being said, Jello is not a good way to lose weight.  Try a better exercise regimen and a balanced veggie diet.

    Good luck!

Oh and for the gummy candy lover...try foodfight groceries online.  They have "gummy bears" that are made from fruit juice and also, whole foods started to carry vegan gummies in their bulk section.

  3. There IS an alternative called "kanten" which is made using "agar", a seaweed. Look for it in Japanese recipes. Google it. It's hard to find in some stores and tougher to prepare but it's an option!

  4. I think you can find the recipe for veg*n jelly online. I only know this because I looked up vegan jelly shots lol

But they use agar powder, which I THINK is something to do with seaweed, and cornstarch. And fruit juice

  5. Hmmmmm.  The last time I checked, eggs and cheese are also animal products??????

  6. I have not figured that out yet.........i have the same problem, except for the losing weight/sugar-free part. I just want "gelatin" free jello.

******In case you are interested, I love gummy candy, but it all has gelatin...i have found one kind without gelatin.  it is sour gummy watermelons!!!

  7. yes diet jello is a good snack thats low cal. i have no idea what to tell you.l myself have been looking but have only found the GELS that are from kool-aid or hunts. i know they are not true gelatin and some are sugar free. i just hate the taste of the nutrisweets

    they are actually vegan too
