Diet sodas vs water ?

I was told that drinking water was much better for you because they are not carbonated. I like to drink sodas but also do not want all the carbs and calories that are in a regular soda.

What makes carbonated drinks worse than water?

  1. For one, diet sodas still contain sodium.  Any diet sodas with caffeine will dehydrate you.  Also, artificial sweeteners, especially aspartame, are actually linked to increased weight.  Stick to water.  It's the best thing you can put into your body.

  2. Theres been lots of talk about diet soda promoting fat/weight gain, though its not as much as regular soda. I can't remember exactly what was said or whats in it that causes it, but supposedly there have been stuides to prove it. But either way, soda eats your teeth...and water overall is just healthier.

  3. When looking for a healthy alternative to water look for drinks that contain lots of sugars and colorings as well as fructose syrups (bad sugars) and stay away from those. If you like the carbonation ( which is fine by the way) then try Crystal Clear water. It is carbonated with natural flavors without the sugars and other c**p.

  4. They have demonstrated that one can of coke can remove the rust off of a battery.

Think about what you want to put in your body.

The human body is over 70% water. Every single cell in your body needs it to survive and thrive. There is not one single thing in soda, diet or regular that is healthy.

If you like carbonation than drink some natural seltzer/sparkling water. There are brands that have no sugar or artificial sweeteners and some come with a splash of lemon or lime.

If you do not like the taste of water, try squeezing some orange or lemon in it for more flavor. Try drinking it cold vs room temperature or vice versa.

  5. Water is very healthy and good for your body. Diet sodas have been shown to  cause cancer, not meaning every person who drinks a diet coke or diet ginger-ale will get cancer. But it was proven that it can sometimes lead to cancer. It is also carbonated and sometimes can cause you to have stomaches all the time.

  6. i don't think carbonated drinks are worse, but diet sodas have a lot of chemicals in them. they are okay to have in moderation, but i wouldn't have more than 1 or 2 a day. water is the best drink though.

  7. Most sodas contain lots of sugar. This is why we like them of course they taste great. They have all the benefits of drinking water except they will load your body down with extra concentrated  calories. Its estimated the average adult can lose up to 10lbs in a years time by drinking water instead of soda.

Another side of the story is Diet sodas. They're not exactly good for you either. Those artificial sweateners are nothing by a form of phosphoric acid. Though not harmful to your stomach, they can be linked to some health risks in excess.

You can't go wrong with water, heck, your body is 80% water. Its what you need to survive. The argument isn't whether you should drink water or not, but should you drink soda which is just water laced with calories to taste good. I pretty much only drink water, have for the last 2 years. I got use to it and it tastes good.
