Dieter Domke stuns Przemyslaw Wacha in Men’s Singles round-of-16 at Yonex Dutch Open 2012
Germany’s experienced player Dieter Domke proved his worth in the arena as he played tremendous game in Men’s Singles round-of-16 when he defeated his higher ranked rival Przemyslaw Wacha of Poland at the Yonex Dutch Open 2012 on Thursday, October 11, in
Netherlands.
The in-form Domke, who is seeded at number nine in Men’s Singles seeding in the tournament, defied all odds in the pre-quarter-final battle and overpowered Wacha who was the top seeded shuttler in the draw.
German player was not in top form in the first set but he showed his remarkable skills in the following sets and registered a sensational victory over his Polish challenger in rubber games by working to his maximum potential for 34 minutes.
On the contrary, the top seeded Wacha started his run in an expected way and he won the opening game but failed to cope up with the speed and perfection of his lower ranked German challenger and eventually crashed out without showing his class.
In the first set, both men locked horns in a thrilling fashion as they played attacking badminton and progressed equally until the end of first half.
After the interval, Domke found it hard to create gap in his rival’s court as he failed to get advantage of his smashes and eventually lost the set with a 17-21 score on the board.
In the following set, Domke was in a different mood as he showed a tremendous precision and took a wonderful lead on score board until the mid-game interval.
The impressive German shuttler continued his elevated performance against his top-seeded challenger and grabbed the second game with a huge margin of 21-10.
In the deciding set, Domke continued showing up his tremendous performance in the arena and remained successful in taking a stunning lead until the end of opening half.
After the interval, the lower ranked German shuttler stayed ahead of his challenger on court as he continued playing in the similar positive fashion and managed to end up the final set in an incredible way with a 21-8 score on the board.
The impressive Domke finished off this round-of-16 contest in three games with a superb margin of 17-21, 21-10 and 21-8.
