Dietrich Mateschitz: Red Bull Racing need to remain strong for continued success – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing team owner Dietrich Mateschitz has stated that the team needs to continue with its spell of domination and remain strong the way it has been, for the races that remain in the 2011 Formula 1 season.
He feels that the Milton-Keynes based outfit must remain focused and determined toward its target for this season, in laying a strong base for 2012 title.
Development work for the upcoming season has already been started and the new upgrades are planned to be implemented at the last four races of the ongoing season. Mateschitz feels that the team’s potential rivals will be harder to beat now.
“For sure we will keep working hard until Sao Paulo,” Mateschitz told Autosport.com. “The development work will not cease. As there are only minor changes in technical rules coming up, all we do now will benefit next year's RB8.”
The last four races of this season will be really crucial for the team in terms of deciding its future course of development work. Hence, the team should continue with its efforts although chances that the Red Bulls will not be able to clinch this year’s
constructors’ championship are slim but nothing can be said yet until it becomes mathematically certain, Mateschitz said.
Even in case of Vettel, it was only when the prospects of him becoming this year’s champion became absolutely clear that the team became sure.
He lauded Sebastian Vettel as a real asset for the team, who by winning this year’s championship has brought great benefit to the team.
“This season means a lot to us also economically. Our net budget this year was lower than in 2010 due to the benefits of last year's results. The 2012 team budget will be (net) even lower than this year because of our success,” he said.
Mateschitz admits that McLaren and Ferrari are both very competitive teams however having said that, he is quite hopeful about his team’s prospects on being successful in winning the constructors’ title as well. Therefore, a post-season celebration plan
in Brazil is already underway.
Let’s see how the team performs in the remaining races and whether they get to win the 2011 constructors’ championship as well.
The next race on the Formula 1 calendar takes place in Korea and it is scheduled for October 16, 2011. The venue for this grand prix will be the Korea International Circuit.
