Dietrich Mateschitz confirms Toro Rosso not for sale – Formula 1 news
Red Bull’s boss Dietrich Mateschitz has recently insisted that Toro Rosso is not for sale but he is only looking for a partner for the team.
“No, although partnerships would not be ruled out, as long as the partner is the right one,” he told the Independent when asked if it is for sale.
A report was released about this matter when the team started to use CEPSA as a sponsor on its cars and it was believed that the team would ultimately be sold to the International Petroleum Investment Company.
Mateschitz on the other hand claims that this is not true and since the team is already doing a pretty good job, they might not want to change anything soon.
He also claims that he is not willing to sell a stake for the team either before adding that everything in Formula 1 depends on many factors including politics.
“A forecast is difficult and a decision always depends on the wider picture, the politics, influence of F1 shareholders and many other factors,” said Mateschitz.
Besides that, he also revealed that Red Bull Racing might not be willing to take a main title sponsor.
“The return on investment [for Red Bull] is the marketing value, which depends on the race performance and results,” he added.
Nevertheless, RBR have almost won its second double title finish in a row and it seems that they are here to stay as a top running team of the sport at least until the next couple of years keeping in mind that they have Sebastian Vettel for a pretty long
time with them.
They have done an amazing job this year and Toro Rosso have also been doing fairly well keeping in mind that they are in 8th place in the constructors’ standings ahead of Williams. They are still within the reach of the 6th place
holders Force India with 5 races still left in 2011.
