Dietrich Mateschitz ready to celebrate Sebastian Vettel’s second drivers’ title – Formula 1 news
Red Bull Racing team owner Dietrich Mateschitz has recently stated that he is ready to celebrate Sebastian Vettel’s second drivers’ title for his team.
Vettel is 124 points ahead of his closest rival Jenson Button in the drivers’ standings and there is no way that the McLaren driver can catch up with the reigning world champion anymore.
With just 5 races remaining, there are just 125 points up for the grabs which means that Button can only win the title if Vettel retires or fails to score a single point at the remaining races and the 2009 Formula 1 world champion wins them all.
That is not possible since RBR are the most consistent team on the 2011 grid with just one retirement. Sebastian Vettel on the other hand is the most consistent driver on the grid with no retirements at all and it is quite clear that he has already secured
the drivers title.
As a result, Mateschitz also revealed that the team has shifted its focus to 2012 as well as they have achieved their goals already and that the rest of the results are not as important as the team’s future.

“In a way, yes, but there are not great changes in the regulations (for 2012) so we will continue to develop as much as possible until the last race,” Mateschitz confirmed.
This means that the team is still aiming for good results and they are trying to experiment with their technology until the end of the 2011 Formula 1 season but no further major developments will be applied to the RB7 anymore.
Mark Webber on the other hand is still aiming for a victory as he has not won a single race in 2011 and his goal is to finish in 2nd place in the drivers’ standings in order to give the team a dominant final result for the 2011
Formula 1 season.
