Do you know of any protein drinks that would be suitable for diabetic? The doctor suggested getting him to eat eggs hiss medical notes say avoid eggs because of cholesterol levels!!!!

I was wondering of yogurt type drinks you can bye would be safe diabetics?

  1. you have already asked this question and i gave you some sound advice.

  2. I would really consult your dr on this or have him taken to a rehab or nursing home if the family can not help take care of him. If he has had a stoke how does he swallow? he might need something called thick it  in to thicken his liquids so he does not inhale them...Does he cough or chock on his food when you give it to him? on the down side the thickener does cause him to feel thirstier. also there are  shakes called glycerina  that are made for diabetics. Plus if the dr suggests eggs if there is no allergy why worry about cholesterol if he needs the nutrition to live. Also maybe you might want to consult a dietitian to get a meal plan set up for him.

  3. You can try Glucerna and other drinks like it.  My dad had to use them before he died.  He was diabetic and also needed protein.  Mom used to add protein powder to it in a blender.  Sometime she even added a little ice cream.  You can also get protein drinks in liquid or powder form at Walmart.  Many body builders use them.  I have tried them too, the one I used was Whey powder.  It was pretty tasty.  As for the eggs, use Egg Beaters.  They are really good and have no cholesterol at all.  I make little quiches out of them in muffin tins.  Add what ever you want and bake til a knife stuck in the middle comes out clean.  Very tasty.  Don't give him any drinks that contain caffeine, because caffeine can add to the dehydration prolem.
