  1. Yes.  Crack a book.

  2. the main difference has always been a linguistic one--and indeed,  the Romans had a very difficult time classifying who was who (and may have got some tribes wrong.) For instance, the Belgae of Belgium, who also lived in England, are classed as celts--but in fact they may have spoken a Germanic language, possibly even the forerunner of English (it noweseems possible if not probable that some language akin to English was spoken in parts of England long before the Saxons came, due to a much older (as old as 5000 BC)gene-flow from over the North sea from areas ranging from Holland & Germany through Scandinivia.

  3. During the time of the Roman Empire those Celtic tribes under Roman control obviously adapted Roman laws, clothing and customs. As far as those Germanic and Celtic tribes outside of Roman control the differences were minimal. The primary difference in clothing for instance is that the Celts used checkered and plaid patterns where as the Norse used single colored clothing. The primary difference in religion was the names of the gods as both the Celts and Norse made offerings to the gods by placing their prized possessions in bogs and lakes. It is difficult to compare the different powers demonstrated by the respective pantheons because most of what we know of the Celtic deities was corrupted by the Romans in their quest to have uniformity between the religions. Also each tribe or clan amongst the Celts often had its own names for the same deity so it is not known for sure how many deities they worshipped. The greatest difference would have been the family/clan structure. The Celts held first and foremost to the family/clan and then to the greater village or tribe. Thus the reason for the various plaids used in their clothing. The plaids made it possible to see which clan they were from. The Germanic/Scandinavian tribes on the other hand, saw themselves as part of a tribe. A warrior might defend his immediate family but he would refer to himself as a Saxon, Frank, Goth ect. They would various means of identifying which tribe this was. The Lombards for instance were known for wearing distinctive white wool stockings as part of their clothing. The Saxons were known for their warriors all carrying a one-sided knife called a Scrammasax. The Franks were known for their warriors all carrying a throwning axe called a Fransicma (spelling?). Also each tribe would carry various battle standards and animal symbols with their tribe. I hope this has been informative.
