Diff. between men and women in Tennis?

Question

Im not really a fan of the sport. I do occasionally watch it though. Anyway, I couldn't help but notice the difference between a mens match and the womens.

The balls zips across the court quite a bit faster. The guys are also more athletic. The mens game somehow seems more aggressive and fast paced to me.

I could be completely wrong though.

What are your thoughts?

At the grand slams, the biggest difference between the two is that the women play best of 3 sets (first one to 2 sets) and the men play best of 5 sets (first one to 3 sets). It's a huge difference.

Some say that women aren't as athletic and can't last as longer. Men can never play against women, only in mixed doubles. For the women, there is no difference between any old tournament and a grand slam, because they are both best of 3 sets. For the men, it is different, because the regular tournaments for them are best of 3 sets and the grand slams are best of 5 sets.

your observations are correct. the men's game is more dynamic all around.

also, the men's game is far deeper. there is very little disparity between #550 and #1. there would be a huge gap, given the same numbers, in the women's game.

to Bea...I think it's more strength than stamina. I've heard that women are well-equipped for endurance events because they have more fat reserves to get them through an event...like a marathon.

Men are, in general, stronger and faster (as you also point out). That's the main thing when it comes to tennis.

You are right. Men just have more stamina than women and thus men's game is much faster. It's like in any other sport, athletic ( look at the world record for women and for men in any category), men are just stronger than women that's all.

I agree with you entirely. Men`s tennis is far more exciting. though u get the odd women`s game like serena, sharapova good powerful hitters.
