  1. sulphide is S(-2),sulphite is SO3(-1),while sulphate is SO4(-2).on the other hand,sulphide and sulphite belong to dilute acid group while sulphate is a special group radical.on the addition of dilute H2SO4,sulphide gives out H2S gas and sulphite gives out SO2 gas while sulphate dsnt react.

  2. oxidation no. of sulfur

    sulphide = S^-2 ion              ox.no. of S   =  -2

    sulphite = SO3^-2 ion                               =  +4

    sulphate = SO4^-2 ion                              =+6
