Difference between 1040 and 1040a 1040Ez?

im filling out my financial aid and im on the tax part and how do i know which one my parents did? they both have regular jobs,and make less than 50,000

Ask your parents.  It will be a 1040 or 1040A. My general experience is that if they are buying a house it will be a 1040, if they rent it will be a 1040A. With dependents, it will not be a 1040EZ
