  1. the difference is pretty easy actually, Adoption is a permenant thing, essentially assigning the child to new parents for whatever reason, whether the child was previously orphaned or in a bad situation for the childs protection.

Foster care is temporary, the child is essentially being "nannied" for a certain period of time, sometimes for a price, whilst the individual sorts themselves out, it may be that their financial position is in a bad way and they need a few months to get back, but they remain the parent, and after a certain period of time, the child will be able to go back to its original parents.

the main difference is that a foster parent never attains or excercises parental control, but in adoption, there is a transference of power from the previous parents to the new parents, and this is permenant.

foster care is often used to prevent a child from being adopted, so that the parents are able to improve their situation to make things easier for both them and the child, however there are occasions where fostering has lead to the foster parents applying to adopt the children involved ( though this would still go through all the usual channels and forms etc, and must be done with the consent of the parents, or approved by a court which deems it necessary to the childs wellfare.

    hope that helps.

  2. Adoption is when a child becomes legally and permanently part of your family.

Foster care is a temporary arrangement, and the child is never one of your family in the accepted sense of the word.

  3. Adoption is a permanent,and involves becoming legal parent's to a child,for ever.

Foster Care is temporary,it is when adults take a child into their home and treat them as part of the family until they are able to go back home or move onto another family, either as a foster child or to be adopted.

  4. Adoption = permanent

Foster care = temporary (but may lead to adoption)

  5. prezler - some answer, pity its got nothing to do with the question.

  6. Foster carers share the responsibility for the child with a local authority and the child's parents.

Fostering is usually a temporary arrangement, though sometimes foster care may be the plan until the child grows up. This longterm or "permanent" fostering cannot provide the same legal security as adoption for either the child or the foster family but it may be the right plan for some children.

doption is a way of providing a new family for children who cannot be brought up by their own parents.

It's a legal procedure in which all the parental responsibility is transferred to the adopters.

Once an adoption order has been granted it can't be reversed except in extremely rare circumstances.

An adopted child loses all legal ties with their first mother and father (the "birth parents") and becomes a full member of the new family, usually taking the family's name.

  7. Adoption is perminant and foster care is temporary.

  8. Fostering is temporary charge of a minor.

Adoption is becoming that persons legal guardian
