  1. to be very simple ascending sytem are the nerves which carry sensory signals,i mean sensation from peripheral reseptors to the brain.this is also called sensory system.brain recieve these signals n respond accordingly n send its message to effector organs, which r mostly muscles n glands through motor nerves.this is called motor sytem n nerves r called motor nerves.

  2. In the ascending system, the impulses are relayed from the spinal cord to several brain structures, including the thalamus and cerebral cortex, which are involved in the process by which “pain” messages become conscious experience.

But pain messages can also be suppressed by a system of neurons. This is the descending system, which sends messages to the dorsal horn of the spinal cord where it suppresses the transmission of pain signals to the higher brain centers. Some of these descending systems use chemicals similar to opioids, such as enkephalins, endorphins and dynorphins.
