  1. In Genetically Modified Crops, the genes are altered to yield more of particular plant portion which is economical to humans, like BT Cotton where more of cotton is produced.  The seeds of GM crops cannot be rotated and have to be bought from the Companies who 'manufacture' these crops.

    In the case of conventional crops, we have got very little control over the yeild levels of economic produce.  Of course, yeild can be increased by adopting good cropping practices, water mangement, integrated pest management. These can play a certain role in enhancing the productivity level of the crops.  But the yeild level cannot be compared with that of GM crops.  Here, the advantage is the rotation of 'Seed Portion', which will help the farmers to preserve the part of the produce for future cropping.   The farmers need not buy the seed from the Companies.

  2. conventional crops are the true natural (native) verity of the plant species which may or may not have the high yield capacity and environmental(also pest )resistance.

    but GMO's are the crops produced from these native crops by either changing their genome as a whole (in enbryo stage )or by incorperating any vector containing the desired gene product that has to be produced on a large scale by the crop. GMO's are high yielding, resistant to pest and env.,nutrient specific and ecofriendly to some extint(eg. for not so ecofriendly is the Bt cotton. pollens of Bt crop adulterates the nearby milkweed crops that effect the growing species of Monarch butterfly feeding on it.)

    eg. for the difference asked:;

    tomato that v eat normally is called faver slaver tomato is a GMo , native tomato crop had low shelf life and low vitamin content ..so it's gemome was altered using vector virus to increase its shelf life and vit. content.

  3. The difference is one is genetically modified in some way,either to improve yield or keep insects away.Conventional crops are natural seeds  and grown according to their type.

  4. GM = Genetically Modified.  These are crops that have been altered at the genetic level to be resistant to pests and diseases.  Conventional crops are naturally bred.
