Can you help me figure out the difference between mechanical & automotive engineering? Is mechanical engineering a preparatory course for automotive engineering?

  1. mechanical engineer engineers anything that moves.... automotive is what it is just automotive....


  2. mechanical and automotive are nothing like each other.

    Mechanical includs a lot of metal work.....such as welding and lathing.

    Automotive is purely car related....however there are also units of Science and Maths, which are engineering related.


  3. Mechanical engineering is a much broader field of study than automotive engineering. Automotive engineering has to do with automobiles in particular. Mechanical engineering has to do with the general application of the laws of physics, motion, leverage, robotics, etc.
