Whats the difference between the two? I always thought primary was from straight from a book or something, and secondary someone talked about it and explained it better.

  1. yes you're right.

a primary is a first hand account (like a letter, diary, autobiography, etc.)

a secondary source is someone who wrote about it without experiencing the event (newspaper, textbook)

  2. primary means main source, secondary means it came from a nother source

  3. You're pretty close to the definition... Primary sources are original works created at the time of study... in other words, they are the direct source... secondary sources comment, cite, or add on to the primary.

    Hope that helped!
