  1. I think it depends on where  you live.  For me a speedboat is a fast boat with an outboard motor, usually aluminum, and not built for comfort.  It gets you quickly from point A to point B.

    A motorboat here has an inboard motor, almost always diesel.   It is slower, but much more comfortable.  It may or may not have a cabin.  A motor boat could also be a version of a speed boat.

    A ship is a commercial vessel - freighter, navy, etc.  It is larger in size than the others and is capable of ocean navigation.  It is big enough to carry its own "boats" - life boats, etc.

    A launch is  not a term that is used here, but it is a motor boat with an open or half open deck, a large motor boat really.
