  1. If your jumping its better for your horse if you jump with a general purpose or jumping saddle because they sit more forward on the horse, because a horses point of balance is actually in front of the wither and with the saddle sitting more forward it helps the horse flick his back legs up and get higher and it is also easier on the horses back.

  2. ohh boyy okay english is the saddle that have no horns and they are less material western is the thing with the horn and all the equipment for barrel racing and pole bending. ect. you can jump in a western saddle but when u lean over into your jumping position u get jabbed in the stomach it hurts i know from experience. and i think if u did that people would think u were crazy because u dont jump in those types of saddles. i would jump in an english saddle because if u compete u have to wear one of those they most likley wont let u in for jumping with an english saddle so good luck and jump in an english saddle :)

  3. For me its more comfertable to jump in a jumping sadlle and i think it is to for the horse but yes you can jump in a western i just find it easier in a jumping one =] x

  4. You can jump in any saddle.

  5. You can jump in a western saddle I have seen it done but I didn't ride Western long enough to ever do that...But I have been riding English now for awhile and its alot easier as long as you know what your doing...I wouldn't suggest jumping on an english saddle and just taking off to jump...But yeah its alot easier in an English saddle.

  6. Yes you can jump in western but I am unaware of any competitions for it.

  7. it can be done, but its really not that smart cuz when you are in 2-point position, the horn on the western saddle can get in the way. i've done it though. (but try sticking to english)

  8. yes, it is possible, and i have done it, but im more comfortable with western just because thats what i learned on, and it takes practice, but sometimes with a western sadle, the horn does get in the way, but if u hold ur balance and have a good hold on the reins and the horn you should have no problem, but good luck!

  9. its possible, but western saddles have a horn on them. So when you're in 2 point then the horn gets in the way

its better for you and probably the horse to use the appropriate saddles for the appropriate events. If you're jumping use english. If you're racing around barrels, then you should use western.

    Happy Trails =D
