Difference between a baseball bat and fast-pitch softball bat?

What's really the difference for the two ? I mean, can you use a baseball bat in fast-pitch and have less power, more power, or equal ?

The end of the barrel is thicker on a baseball bat then a softball bat.  While the mid section of a baseball bat (the neck if you will), is a bit thinner then a softball bat.

What kind of baseball bat are you talking about.  If you are talking about little league bats, they are smaller and the metal is different.  You are sacrafising close to 50 feet of power if you use a little league bat and I doubt you are allowed to do it.  If you are talking about a senior league bat, they are a totally different size, so no, you cannot use it.

I assume you mean aluminum bats? Baseball bats for teens and adults have a much larger barrel and have a lower length to weight ratio usually -3 ( 33 in. and 30 oz), whereas fast-pitch softball bats are  -9 to -13 for adults. this is because the guys usually want more power, and the gals usually want more bat speed.  Mens bats have much less flex than womens built into the handle as well, usually more flex means more power.so no i wouldnt recommend using a mens bat for fast-pitch softball. if it for league use, they wouldnt let you use it anyway.

The barrell is completely different softball they are longer and have a much bigger sweet spot, plus they are lighter.  Baseball bats have to be (-3 to be legal) meaning 34 inches long 31 ounces or 33inches 30 ounces. If you tried to hit a baseball with a softball bat thrown lets say 85-88 miles and hour it would dent the bat, I have done this. Softball bats have much more flex to them to when you hit the ball.  Ill say this overall if you bat with a baseball bat in a fast pitch softball homerun derby and face someone with a regular softball bat you will lose.
