Difference between cold air intake and a regular performance intake

what exactly makes a cold air intake better than a regular perfomance cone filter?

  1. oh, its something about how the combustion is better with colder air. The difference is about 7-10 hp, the same as a 150cc scooter.

    Not enough bang for MY buck!!


  2.   On a cold air intake the incoming air is drawn in through a sealed compartment so that only outside air that is not heated up by the engine compartment is pulled in. On a regular intake the air thats pulled in is drawn in from under the hood meaning that it is warmed by the engine. I installed one on my Yukon and noticed no difference at all. But its still there and it cost me like $250.00.
