Difference between dvd -r x8 and dvd -r x 16 ??

i burn dvd's using windows dvd maker. dvd-r x8 works but dvd-r x16 doesnt work. wat is the difference between them? also what is dvd -rw. what do the different types of dvd's mean? which all formats can be burnt? pls help me im a begininer. (10 points to the most clear answer)

  1. DVD -r 16x means it's burning twice as fast as DVD -r 8x. It sounds like your computer isn't fast enough to burn at 16x. Maybe if you closed some programs running in the background or left it alone while burning (assuming you didn't do that already) it might be able to keep up. It's also possible the disks you have aren't 16x compatible.

    DVD -rw is a type of rewritable DVD- format. That means you can erase and re-record on the same disk more than once.

    DVD+ was one standard of recordable DVD supported by one company and DVD- was another. As far as I know modern recorders will read and write both, so you should be able to burn both.
