Difference between earth and world?

My 7 years old son ask me this question. Can someone answer the question keeping in mind of his age.

earth is the name for this world that we live on.  there are other worlds (planets) which have names of their own:  Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune.

Earth is a term that was primarily used for surface or ground.

Earth in other words also means mud or something that you grow things in this is applied to all the languages. So Earth is the surface of the planet.

Today Earth is used as name for our planet.

World on the other hand isn't exactly Earth, you could have your personal world, like Dream world, this is the domain where we live in.

If we move our bases to Mars, it will be part of our world, but Mars will not become Earth.

So World is more expanded term, while Earth is limited to surface of this planet.

Jjust as union ,and, unique! Earth....you touch....plant things in....build things on....your unique decision. The world is all of us....our combined decisions!....think of an orange....separate sections....still....together make a whole.

Don't know about seven year olds, but if he knows the difference between the name of something (like Mike) and the designation of it (like Man) then earth is the name of the world we live on and world and planet are pretty much the same.   Jupiter, Mars and Mercury are other worlds, there is only one Earth.
