  1. The difference is 399 MG.  Talk to the doctor about how much you should take.

  2. Experts recommend at least 0.4 mg at the least, however many prenatal vitamins contain 1mg. You are taking plenty.

  3. take the 400mg b/c 1 mg just isn't enough. I would talk to your doctor and they can go ahead and put you on prenatals.

  4. I took 2 mg. when I was pregnant, which is 2000 mcg.  My mother had a child with spinal bifida, so I wanted to be certain to get enough.

  5. What you are seeing is 400mcg not 400mg. 400mg is a whole lot. You only need 1mg. Unless your doctor prescribes you something a little higher. Some docs have been known to prescribe up to 5mg if you have had a previous pregnancy loss, and if you will be considered high risk in the next pregnancy.

  6. 1mg = 1,000mcg.

I'm sure you mean 400mcg. A prenatal pill will have between 800 and 1000 mcg of folic acid in it. That is the recommended amount for pregnant women.

  7. Could you possibly mean 400 mcg ?   I don't thinks it's possible to make folic acid in 400mg...nor would it be healthy for you or healthy for a pregnancy.  You should be taking a Pre-natal vitamin, they are labeled pre-natal and always contain folic acid, as well as other necessary vitamin to support a healthy pregnancy.  The normal amount of folic acid in a pre-natal vitamin is 800 mcg (micrograms) not mg (miligrams).  This should be taken once per day.
