  1. u serious? a pond is something you have in your back garden (usually man made) and a lake is a naturally occuring ecosystem.

  2. a lake is an inland body of usually fresh water, larger than a pool or pond, generally formed by some obstruction in the course of flowing water

    a pond is a body of water smaller than a lake, often artificially formed

  3. Lake = Natural??

    Pond = man made??

  4. Ponds are, by definition, smaller than lakes in area.

  5. A pond can be meassured in gallons of water, a lake cannot. So, for example, if you can walk around it in 5 minutes, it's a pond.

  6. To be honest, it is all about where you live. I have seen bodies of water that would be called lakes in my old home state of Florida, be called ponds in Michigan and Minnesota.

    The definition is by size but the limit is arbitrary.

    I have seen man-made lakes and natural ponds.

  7. Go to this website, from what I can tell there is no real diffrence except that is what they named it at the time.
