Question:

Difference between men's & women's snowshoes?

My roommate, which happens to be a girl, said that I could borrow her Tubbs snowshoes for this coming weekend. What difference is there between female and male snowshoes? Would it be fine if I borrowed her snowshoes?

Thanks,

Nicholas

  1. If it feels comfortable, borrow them, there's no real difference, as far as I know.

  2. As far as the frame goes, men's snowshoes tend to be longer and have a wider tail. Women's snowshoes have tapered tail and generally run a few inches shorter.

Certain brands and styles use different bindings for men's and women's snowshoes. A woman with a small foot may not fit well into certain men's snowshoes and men with larger feet may not fit well into certain women's snowshoes. I find this occurrs in high-end snowshoes, such as mountaineering or running snowshoes, not so much in non-technical snowshoes.

Chances are you should be OK in her snowshoes.
