Difference between mice and rats?

The difference in size in rats and mice is substantial. Adult mice average the size of 3-4 inches long with 3-4 inch tails. Adult rats are heavier and larger in size. They have 9-11 inch long bodies and 7-9 inch tails.

The average weight of a mouse is 30 grams

The average weight for a rat is 350-450 grams(females)

and 450-650 grams(males)

Rats are proven to be much more intelligent than mice as well.

The difference in appearance is...

Rats have

Small ears, thick tails, wide muzzles, big feet, and a broad head.

Mice have

Large ears, average tails, narrow, small muzzles, little feet and a triangular head.

Rats and mice have both been the epidome of "disgusting" creatures in movies, found in sewers and intruding homes. They are easily mistaken for one another regularly. Adult mice and baby rats look quite alike.

the first one is a mouse, and the second one is a rat.

mice are siginificantly smaller, and less intelligent. they are also more wild, and they do not like human contact as much. they do not form strong bonds with their owners, and they are more of a pet that you watch

rats are the exact opposite

Mice are smaller than rats and less intelligent.

You can also notice how "wild" they are even when they're just moving around.

They'll scurry, stop to sniff, scurry, stop to sniff.

Also, if they run away, chances are they will not come back.

A rat can be taught tricks and will come back to it's owner if he or she is bonded with it's owner.

As far as I know, Mice can not be taught tricks, and don't become as bonded.

Rats develop more of a personality than mice, too.
