  1. Optical fiber is kind of like wire fore light transmission and wifi is over the airwaves transmission, like a cordless phone.

    Signals can be transmitted further without needing to be "refreshed" or strengthened.

    Greater resistance to electromagnetic noise such as radios, motors or other nearby cables.

    Wireless can obtain high data rates through microwave links but they are prone to interfence from weather, obstructions like trees, exposure to the elements, other radio freq interference. One advantage is that you don't need to dig a trench to connect two buildings together. Fiber seems to be the choice.
