  1. paprika is made from capsicums or mild peppers, can be sweet or smoked. Chilli is hot peppers. Same family

  2. Paprika is sweet and not hot while chili powder is spicy.

Paprika is made from the grinding of dried sweet red bell peppers. In many European countries the name paprika also refers to bell peppers themselves. The seasoning is used in many cuisines to add color and flavor to dishes.

Chili powder (also spelled chile powder) is a generic name for any powdered spice mix composed chiefly of chili peppers, most commonly either hot red peppers or cayenne peppers. But it can be made from virtually any hot pepper including ancho, Cayenne, Chipotle, New Mexico, and pasilla chilis. The spice mix may simply be pure powdered chilis, or it may have other additives, especially cumin, oregano, garlic powder, and salt. [1][2] Some mixes may even include black pepper, cinnamon, cloves, coriander, mace, nutmeg, or turmeric.[citation needed] As a result of the various different potential additives, the spiciness of any given chili powder is incredibly variable. As a rule, the purer the chili powder is, the more spicy it is.

All these peppers are from the single species, Capsicum annuum but there are huge differences in peppers. It's like the species canine, there is a huge difference between a toy poodle and a great dane.

  3. paprika : not hot , super mild taste.. use for colour (to make the dish look really hot and etc), super RED in colour .. really nice

chili powder ( red, dull red): hot , taste (depend on the type of chili used, best to try before putting in the amount used).... great for spicing things up , not that good in food colouring ... it usually doesn't really stand out much ..

  4. When you buy Paprika it is ground died peppers with maybe anti caking agent added. It can be either " sweet" or "hot"

Chili powder is almost always a blend of ground peppers and other spices and herbs. Usually garlic, cumin and maybe oregano.

  5. Paprika is made from the skin of a variety of peppers that vary from mild to medium hot while chilli powder uses the whole pepper including seeds - thats why one is sometimes very hot and the other not.

Also - mixed "chilli powder" is usually only found in USA  because its a mix used to make the mexican "Chilli Con Carne"- in Europe its pure powdered chili peppers only usually. In the US they call this Cayenne Pepper.
